A Foundation of Humble Beginnings

Lund Construction Co. has provided the full spectrum of pre-construction, earthmoving, and pipeline services to the Greater Sacramento area for three generations. From humble beginnings doing small grading jobs for local builders, Lund has grown to a team of more than 100 skilled workers, capable of handling everything from sewer, storm drain, and water installation to grading, site work, erosion control, joint trench, and paving.

George loved to work hands on in the field with his employees.

The love for dirt and yellow iron ran in the Lund genes, as Jerry joins the family business.

Where we’re going is as important as where we came from

Founded in 1958, George Lund and his wife Alta commenced the company’s journey out of their home with just a motor grader and a tractor. With the goal of providing a reliable job and good lifestyle for their employees and their families, Lund attracted former farm workers who had struggled to make a living wage. George’s love of yellow iron and hands on involvement in the day to day operations, allowed him to roll up his sleeves and work side by side with his employees.

In a time when the extent of negotiations were just a conversation and a handshake, George took on small paving and grading jobs, building relationships, a strong reputation, and earning the trust of many. When his son Jerry was old enough to go to the job sites with his dad, the tradition, fascination and love of construction equipment continued. Back in the days where you would have as much chance hitting a horse as you would a car, young Jerry would help his dad by driving trucks and hauling equipment.

In 1964, once Jerry graduated from high school, he helped Lund Construction branch into the underground business where they began putting in roadside drainage culverts for public entities as well as building custom home pads. In that day, Sacramento was growing and evolving. Septic systems were moving to sewer systems, and existing streets and homes had a tremendous infrastructure need. One of their most notable projects at the time was the Mt. Shasta Mall, although they were also doing work for numerous small subdivisions. It wasn’t long before Jerry transitioned into management and began running Lund in the mid 1980s.

Throughout the years, he ensured the vision, integrity and foundation that his father had built the company on remained in tact, by remaining hands on in the daily operations and knowing everyone by name.

Jerry Lund and Bobby Hauptman have worked together at Lund for over 30 years.

Kevin has been working with his dad Jerry to learn the family business, since he was 15 years old.

When Jerry’s sons Jeff and Kevin were 15, he brought them on board to learn the business and work summers. They both went off to college and soon decided after graduation that they wanted to continue the family tradition, started by their grandfather George, and help their father Jerry further grow the family business.

With Jeff and Kevin’s vision of being the contractor of choice in the Sacramento region, while maintaining the foundation of loyalty and team commitment that endures six decades later, the company is embracing new technologies and more efficient methods to ensure the highest level of success on their job sites. Together, they are working to further grow the Lund name by attracting the best talent and building new relationships in the industry.

And, with a new look we needed a new tagline that truly represented our vision and what we do. At Lund, we have said since the beginning that “success is the only option” on every project we take on. We have a reputation of doing what is needed to achieve a successful outcome on our projects, no matter what challenges may present themselves. To us successful outcomes means building a strong relationship with our clients because we delivered a high quality project at a reasonable price, in the timeframe that was promised and with minimal or no change orders. Since we are typically the first contractor on all projects, preparing raw land so developers can go vertical, all successful projects start with us.

License

Lund is currently licensed by the California Contractors State License Board #342677 General Engineering Class A, and is certified in Hazardous Substance Removal.

Lund Construction has an excellent bonding capacity. We’re happy to provide specific information upon request.

Insurance

Adequate insurance is maintained for all projects. We have the capacity to increase insurance or procure special riders depending on the needs of your project.
